Student Government
The Student Government Program at Tesseract is founded on the premise that when students are encouraged to voice their ideas, to take responsibility for the implementation of those ideas, and when they are provided the opportunity to learn from both success and failure, student leaders emerge.
Tesseract StuGo is made up of officers directly elected by the student body and senators appointed by a representative panel. Elections occur in the spring for the following academic year. Once elected or appointed, student leaders are enrolled in the Student Government class, which provides leadership training, encourages active involvement and promotes a strong sense of community.
StuGo leaders believe that they have a three-fold responsibility:
- To support the creation of a positive, physical and emotional environment
- To get people involved and promote school spirit
- To act as a voice for the student body
To that end, they organize pride events to increase school spirit, host social activities that offer opportunities for participation and sponsor charity causes in the belief that service comes before self. For further information, please contact:

RCTN Student Newspaper
The Really Cool Tesseract News (RCTN) is a monthly newspaper, entirely written and published by the students, with the direction of advisor Francine Hardaway, who serves on the Tesseract Board. Students from all grades may participate and may contribute articles on topics of their choice.
Field Trips
Students in all grades have the opportunity to take part in numerous field trips throughout the year. Field trips are out of the classroom education, and are related to the students’ current theme of study. Fifth through eighth grade classes also take individual class trips in the spring of each year.
