NEW CHAIRMAN APPOINTED FOR TESSERACT SCHOOL’S BOARD OF TRUSTEES

PARADISE VALLEY, ARIZONA—October 15, 2009—Tesseract School announced today that Nathan Learner has been appointed and will serve as chair of the board of trustees of Tesseract School, replacing Kathryn J. Lincoln who previously served in this role and will now be the board’s vice-chair.

“As Tesseract continues to grow and expand its program offerings, I am thrilled to be able to help support that growth in whatever way possible,” said Learner. “Since my son started attending Tesseract five years ago, I have been continually impressed with the school’s outstanding educators, innovative curriculum and the entire Tesseract community—it is truly a leader in education in the Valley.”

Learner, a principal of Strategic Capital Management, has served on Tesseract’s board for the last four years as the marketing committee liaison; Learner was most recently the board’s vice-chair. His commitment to Tesseract also included serving as co-chair of Breaking New Ground, the capital campaign to build Tesseract’s new middle and high school campus, and chairing the campaign’s communications and cultivation committees.

“Both Katie and Nathan have shown tireless commitment to Tesseract,” said Nigel Taplin, Tesseract’s head of school. “I want to take this opportunity to once again thank Katie for her unwavering leadership, including guiding us through our largest fund-raising initiative to date, and to congratulate Nathan on his new board appointment.”

Lincoln, chair of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, whose children both graduated from Tesseract, most recently served as chair of Tesseract’s board of trustees and co-chair of the school’s capital campaign, Breaking New Ground.

“I am so pleased that I was able to serve Tesseract School as board chair, and as capital campaign co-chair for the first phase of the Breaking New Ground campaign to build our new middle and high school campus,” said Lincoln. “I look forward to continuing in this new role to help this exceptional school grow and move forward with its initiatives.”

Learner holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree in engineering from Northwestern University. He was previously an institutional securities trader for several top tier investment banking firms including Drexel Burnham Lambert and Daiwa Securities America, trading U.S. denominated securities in New York, Tokyo and London, and has provided several startup entities with capital formation assistance in Arizona.

Lincoln, also a member of the Lincoln Electric Company Board of Directors and the Johnson Bank Board of Advisors, Arizona, a member of the board and the executive committee of the International Center for Land Policy Studies and Training in the Republic of China, a director of the Chautauqua Foundation and a trustee of the Chautauqua Institution,
