PHYSICAL EDUCATION
At Tesseract, the physical education department facilitates a sequential, instructional program in which students develop physically active lifestyles that promote lifelong fitness, good health and the love of athletics.
Our curriculum of skills and concepts promotes teamwork and collaboration, skill development, positive self-concept, supportive social interactions, leadership ability and moral development.
Upper school students are required to take one year of physical education class. These classes are geared towards continued physical development, strength training and cardio-vascular exercise. Athletic units focus on the seasonal sports offered through the Charter Athletic Association. Our new 10,000 square foot, multi-purpose sports pavilion and regulation-size soccer field enable us to host athletic events at our Shea campus throughout the school year.
CHARTER ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
Upper school athletic teams compete in the Charter Athletic Association. Because our high school is still growing, we have combined our sports program with that of Paradise Valley Christian High School. This combined program allows our athletes to compete at the high school level, providing them with the most variety and the most appropriate competition available to high schools in the early stages of growth. The goal of this endeavor is to develop our sports program while our student population increases to the point of becoming independent.
Our experienced and professional coaches provide the best, most productive atmosphere for our student athletes. Being a part of an athletic team is a huge responsibility for both the students and their families. Focus will be on self-discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship and the creation of strong, competitive teams.
