Director of Finance and Operations
Tesseract School is seeking a full-time director of finance and operations.
This position reports directly to the head of school. The director of finance and operations will partner with the head and a strong leadership team to help Tesseract School move into an exciting new phase of its institutional life and achieve its vision of becoming an extraordinary K-12 independent school in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Specifically, the director of finance and operations:
1. Manages the financial operation of the school so that the institution remains financially stable and balances the budget.
2. Supervises the work of the school’s senior accountant and accounting assistants.
3. Uses standard accounting and bookkeeping procedures, and keeps an accurate continuous record of the cash and financial position of the school.
4. Prepares a monthly operating statement including statement of activities, supplementary schedules, statement of financial position, and income monthly statement report for the head of school and the chair of the finance committee.
5. Provides a monthly report of expenditures for use of each individual budget center within the school.
6. Prepares quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees.
7. Establishes a plan and schedule for the preparation of the annual budget that will permit the setting of the succeeding year's tuition at a Board of Trustees meeting early in the calendar year.
8. Provides for the securing of an annual audit of the school's financial records and financial positions.
9. Oversees all school purchasing, financial investments, banking activities, payroll and benefits program.
10. Provides staff support, in conjunction with the head of school, to the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees.
11. Manages risk at the school to ensure the safety of personnel and students in their use of the facilities and to maintain appropriate levels of insurance to protect the property and to cover the liability of the school.
12. Oversee school transportation, including hiring of driver(s), transportation routes, and schedules.
13. Ensure the effective management of the food-service operation.
14. Manages the maintenance and upkeep of the Doubletree and Shea campuses including the hiring and supervision of maintenance and janitorial staff.
15. Assists the head of school with decisions regarding salaries and benefits for all personnel.
16. Represents the school at various regional, state, and national associations relative to the role of being the director of finance and operations.
17. Performs other duties as assigned by the head of school.
18. Supports the school and its leadership.
The director of finance and operations will have a high degree of autonomy while working as a member of a dynamic administrative team.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree
- Have significant accounting experience
- Have significant experience in independent school (preferred but not a requirement) or non-profit finance and operations;
- Be a strong communicator, both in oral and written communications;
- Be organized, detail oriented and goal driven;
- Be a strong leader but also excel at working as a member of a team;
- Communicate effectively with parents and staff

Full-Time Middle through Upper School (Grades 5 - 11) Music Educator
Tesseract School's middle school programs emphasize rigorous academics with a focus on hands-on learning experiences, community involvement, student empowerment and global interactions. A unique trait of our program is an emphasis on extending learning beyond the classroom.
In keeping with our school’s belief that students learn best when they are engaged and active, our music and elective classes offer opportunities for students to be involved with music and drama. The classes are aligned with state and national standards, and topics are integrated with other content areas.
The ideal candidate will be a certified educator with extensive experience and training in music and drama instruction. The ideal candidate will also have a passion for working with middle school children and be a strong collaborator as well as have:
• A degree demonstrating knowledge of music education
• At least two years of relevant teaching experience

• Demonstrated experience in creating hands-on curricula

PT Lower School/Elementary School Spanish Educator
Tesseract School is seeking a highly-qualified lower school Spanish educator. In keeping with our school's belief that students learn best when engaged and active, our Spanish curriculum follows the Teaching Proficiencies through Reading & Strategic Storytelling (TPRS) teaching methodology. This outstanding teaching opportunity is best suited to an individual with extensive teaching experience with lower school/elementary Spanish.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience and training in foreign language instruction (preferably TPRS)
- A passion for working with lower school/elementary school age children
- Strong collaborative skills
- A degree demonstrating knowledge of second language instruction
- At least two years of relevant teaching experience
