ACCEPTANCES TO COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
FOR TESSERACT SCHOOL’S FIRST SENIOR CLASS

PARADISE VALLEY, ARIZONA—November 15, 2011—In another exciting year of firsts for Tesseract School, the school’s inaugural senior class has started to receive acceptance notifications from colleges and universities across the U.S.

“Watching these students break new ground and lead the way for the rest of our student body from being our inaugural freshman class to now our first senior class has been a wonderful and exciting experience for us all,” said Nigel Taplin, head of Tesseract School. “We are all so proud of what they have accomplished over the past three years—and now their final year—in high school and we are thrilled to see that reflected for them through acceptance notifications from the schools of their choice.”

While Tesseract has been educating Valley students in preschool through eighth-grade since 1988, its high school opened just three years ago. Part of the school’s strategic plan for many years, and stimulated by Tesseract families wishing the school’s outstanding, innovative curriculum and student-centered approach extended through high school, Tesseract’s high school and new middle and high school campus opened in fall 2008. This fall sees Tesseract seniors already receiving acceptance letters from several schools including Purdue University, Auburn University and Rutgers University. Tesseract and its seniors are looking forward to hearing from many additional universities and colleges as acceptance letters continue to be dispersed.

“Our students have been preparing for this and researching colleges and universities for quite some time now. Identifying and visiting those schools that are strong matches for them academically, socially and geographically is an integral part of the process,” noted Megan Erdely, Tesseract’s college advisor.

Tesseract’s college counseling program starts students’ freshman year and continues throughout high school, escalating as students' senior year approaches. This past August, Tesseract’s seniors started the year with their “All Work and All Play College Prep Retreat.” The retreat was designed to acknowledge their upcoming senior year and strengthen their class bond as well as continue to guide them through some final steps in the college admissions process, such as writing college essays, refining résumés, checking the status of college applications and continuing to work toward their senior-year goals.

“The goal of the school’s college counseling program is to assist students on their journey of self-evaluation, preparing them for the colleges and universities that will best fit their individual needs, capabilities and aspirations,” said Erdely.

“As those schools were identified, our students applied early to those of their choice, the benefit of which is that students then receive admissions decisions early in the admission cycle—usually in December or January, or sooner, which can help relieve some of the stress of waiting for additional acceptance information and finalizing their college selections as the year progresses.”
