TESSERACT SCHOOL ANNOUNCES
HIGH SCHOOL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

PHOENIX, ARIZONA—May 18, 2011—Rising ninth-grade students Elizabeth L. and BethEl N. have both been awarded the Tesseract High School Merit Scholarship. This four-year high school scholarship program recognizes students who exhibit outstanding scholarship and citizenship. Both students currently attend Tesseract and will start the 2011-2012 school year as freshmen at its high school.

“Elizabeth and BethEl are greatly admired and respected by their peers and educators for their academic accomplishments and their energy and passion for the arts and service learning,” said Nigel Taplin, head of Tesseract School. “Both students will thrive in our high school where the innovative, student-centered curriculum engages students to think deeply, question broadly and embrace the many extraordinary cross-curricular connections and opportunities.”

Elizabeth excels in math and science and has been invited to join the National Junior Honor Society. In addition to academics, she plays volleyball and basketball for Tesseract and is strongly involved in the community, which includes volunteering at Tranquility Trail Animal Sanctuary. “I love Tesseract because it’s a fun and friendly place filled with wonderful educators and students,” Elizabeth stated. “My favorite thing about Tesseract is the personalized attention and teachers who can connect with all the students.”

BethEl is president of the National Junior Honors Society, an accomplished singer and dancer, a leader on the school's community service council and an exceptional student. “Tesseract is filled with educators who really care and students who are devoted to academics,” she stated. “The different opportunities Tesseract has for each student—for example the musical, sports and all of the unique clubs—is what I like the most about this school.”

In keeping with its commitment to academic excellence and its “whole child” approach, Tesseract offers a variety of scholarships available to students whose interests and talents lie in the sciences, mathematics, humanities, foreign language, the arts, leadership, technology and athletics.

Individuals interested in finding out more about Tesseract’s comprehensive scholarship program, including how to apply, should contact Scott Salk, Tesseract’s director of admissions, at 480.385.3673 or ssalk@tesseractschool.org.
