TESSERACT SCHOOL HOSTS MIT'S DEAN OF ADMISSIONS AND REPRESENTATIVES FROM DARTMOUTH, HARVARD, PRINCETON AND THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA FOR COLLEGE ADMISSIONS EVENT

Phoenix, AZ—September 8, 2010— On Monday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m., Stuart Schmill, dean of admissions for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), will be participating in Tesseract’s “Selective Colleges Admissions Panel” at its middle and high school campus. Schmill will join panelists representing Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania in the panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Chris LaBonte, Tesseract School’s director of high school.

Open to all Valley families, the panel discussion is targeted at students who are looking to apply to highly selective colleges and universities. Panelists will discuss what the institutions they represent look for in their applicants and how prospective applicants can become strong candidates by maximizing their high school years.

"We are honored to have Stuart Schmill and all the panelists on our campus to participate in this event, said Nigel Taplin, Tesseract’s head of school. “The panel discussion on Monday night is a fantastic opportunity for students and parents to hear what representatives from MIT and other top universities and colleges have to share about their admissions processes.”

In addition to Monday night’s admissions panel, MIT has invited several Phoenix-area high schools to schedule meetings for their students with MIT representatives for its Phoenix-area “Central Meeting.” This event is designed to present an accurate picture of what MIT is like today, and to give a primer on its admissions process to prospective applicants and their parents. These pre-scheduled meetings will be held on Sunday, September 26.

“Our innovative curriculum and student-centered approach prepare students with the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in college and in life beyond,” noted Taplin. “We are very pleased to be hosting these admissions events for the third year in a row.”

Both events will be held at Tesseract School’s middle and high school campus, located at 3939 East Shea Boulevard, Phoenix, Arizona. For more information visit www.tesseractschool.org or contact Scott Salk at 480.385.3673.
