TESSERACT SCHOOL SENIORS EARN SPOTS ON
CAA ALL-STATE AND ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
PHOENIX, ARIZONA--December 20, 2011--Tesseract School seniors Laura B., Chianne C., York M. and Sean P. all earned spots on the Charter Athletic Association (CAA) 2011 All-State and All-Conference teams. Laura and Chianne were selected for the 1A North Conference Volleyball First Team and All CAA Class 1A Volleyball Second Team, and York and Sean were selected for the 2011 All CAA Ultimate Frisbee First Team.
"Laura, Chianne, York and Sean exemplify what it means to work hard and be committed to a team,” said Nate Bodinet, Tesseract School’s athletic director. “We are extremely proud of our student-athletes, who have all dedicated themselves to success in the classroom and the community as well as athletics.”
The CAA is comprised of more than 120 charter and private high schools throughout Arizona and surrounding areas. The CAA All State teams for volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee are designed to honor student-athletes who have competed at the highest level of play and displayed good sportsmanship, outstanding teamwork and the utmost in integrity.
Tesseract high school math educator and Ultimate Frisbee coach, Toby Carlson, also earned honors this year and was named the CAA Ultimate Frisbee Coach of the Year.
"Coach Carlson is a leader, an educator and an excellent role model for our students,” said Bodinet. “He has all the characteristics that comprise a great coach and is an inspiration to the students and faculty alike. We are fortunate to have Toby as a member of the Tesseract Athletic Program.”
Physical fitness and athletics, including competitive sports, have always been part of Tesseract’s innovative, student-centered curriculum as part of its “whole student” educational approach. With the addition of a high school and Tesseract’s new 10,000 square-foot sports pavilion, the school’s athletic program was able to expand to include varsity sports and join the CAA with the start of the 2008-2009 school year.
