Financial Assistance
At Tesseract, we recognize that the cost of tuition is beyond the reach of some families. Tesseract School strives to ensure that no qualified student who wishes to attend Tesseract, or who is already enrolled at Tesseract, is denied admission or required to leave due to verifiable financial need.
Based on demonstrated need, Tesseract awards financial assistance to families to help offset tuition costs, enabling us to assist qualified, accepted applicants. These awards are drawn from the school’s funds and are not repaid.
Tesseract School wants every student who will benefit and thrive from a Tesseract education to be able to attend this extraordinary school.
The actual cost of a Tesseract School education is higher than the school’s tuition rates. This difference is primarily financed through the Tiger Annual Fund—Tesseract families’ annual giving program— and the Arizona State Tuition Tax Credit program—both voluntary efforts in which families can make contributions to Tesseract, according to their abilities.
We ask that when considering financial aid, you honestly review your financial situation. After doing so, if it is determined that financial assistance is required, we encourage you to contact the admissions office.
If you feel you may qualify for financial assistance you are encouraged to apply early, as available funds are limited.
You will be asked to submit a Parents’ Financial Statement to School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). By doing so, you are granting permission for a financial evaluation. SSS uses a formula to equitably compute the amount a family can contribute toward education and will forward this computation to Tesseract.
Tesseract School will determine the amount of aid awarded, and will make every effort to fairly evaluate each individual family’s circumstances and needs. The admissions office will notify you of any award offered by the school.
Please remember that applying for financial aid does not guarantee eligibility.
Steps to Apply for Financial Aid
The following is a guide to assist you with the financial aid application process.
Complete the Parents’ Financial Statement online. School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) will submit your application directly to Tesseract. You will need a credit card and a copy of your current tax return to complete the online application. This takes approximately 25 minutes to complete. Follow these steps:
- Go to: https://sss.nais.org
- Enter the site as a Family and apply for financial aid by accessing the PFS (Parent Financial Statement.)
- Follow the instructions until you have completely filled out the application. Tesseract's school code is 2831.
- If you have not yet filed your 2009 taxes, you may use your 2008 tax forms to complete the application.
- The application fee is $35. Once paid, the application will be completed and a confirmation screen will appear.
- For the final step, you will need to mail a copy of your tax forms (1040's) to SSS. A screen will appear after the confirmation page instructing you how to do this.
- Please e-mail Scott Salk, director of admissions, at ssalk@tesseractschool.org upon completion of these steps.
Steps to Award
After the school receives a copy of the SSS report and the required tax return documentation, your family will be notified by mail of any financial award. If you receive an award, you must sign the acceptance acknowledgement and send it to the school by the designated date.
If you have any questions about completing the PFS online, contact SSS Help Line at 866.387.2601.
