Ask About our Founders' Merit Scholarship!
*Upper School
We believe that a modern educational approach needs to impart a rigorous, flexible curriculum by capitalizing on the innate strengths and interests of students. Upper school students are motivated by work that is connected to the real world, material that challenges their abilities and a faculty that demonstrates expertise, compassion and a lifelong love of learning. At Tesseract we combine these elements with a low student-to-teacher ratio and a well-rounded curriculum that includes foreign language, physical education, and visual and performing arts, and emphasizes global connections, environmental sustainability and flexible thinking to prepare our students for success in college and the 21st century workplace.

Community
Of equal importance to a rigorous academic curriculum is establishing an upper school culture where students feel safe, understood, challenged, engaged and empowered. From advisory-based service projects to student-lead committees, the upper school community has been designed so that the perspectives and talents of each student are respected and cultivated. This spirit of mutual respect and common purpose will guide us as we continue to develop and enrich activities and traditions.
Progress and Feedback
We recognize that learning requires feedback, but we also believe that grades should be seen as gauges for student progress rather than ends in themselves. Our upper school report cards, student reports, conferences, student portfolios and student presentations have all been carefully designed to reinforce this philosophy.
College Counseling
Tesseract’s upper school curriculum has been designed to encourage curiosity, critical thinking and personal investment, while giving students the background and skills needed for success at selective colleges, universities and beyond. Our comprehensive college counseling program is designed to assist upperclassmen and their families in researching and selecting higher-learning institutions.
*Tesseract School's new middle and upper school campus will open at 40th Street and Shea Boulevard fall 2008 with our inaugural ninth-grade class. All upper school grades, 9-12, will be offered by fall 2011.
