At Tesseract, technology is a tool for learning. Students have access to a variety of technologies, and educators are encouraged to integrate technology into their curriculum to enhance their teaching methods, and to encourage and cultivate student creativity.
The technological vision for Tesseract is to infuse technology into students’ daily lives. This includes utilization of online research and collaboration, PowerPoint presentations, word processing, artistic endeavors, digital portfolios, podcasting, 3-D software and more.
Each of Tesseract’s classrooms, from preschool through eighth grade, has three or more computers, all with Internet access and age-appropriate programs. Students and educators also have access to three carts, each with 16 wireless laptop computers.
Nearly all classrooms have projectors, allowing educators to show educational video clips, demonstrate skills and present information on large projection screens. Educators also have access to the school’s four Smart Technologies Airliner Tablets, enabling them to write on the screen from anywhere in the room, making their classes even more interactive.
Math classes are equipped with the TI Navigator system, a system allowing the students’ TI graphing calculators to communicate with educators’ PC’s wirelessly enabling educators to instantly assess student comprehension.
