Welcome!
The middle school years are a time of great transition. During these years, students experience tremendous physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. At Tesseract we understand the unique needs of the middle school child. Our program is designed to help each individual develop his or her unique talents in a safe and supportive environment.
Tesseract instructors are expert educators who utilize research based pedagogy to enrich the classroom experience. The curriculum is rigorous and challenges every child. It is founded on essential skills including speaking, listening, reading, writing and computation. For example, reading and writing are supported across the curriculum and several hours a week are devoted to reading and writing labs. Instruction is hands-on, cooperative and interdisciplinary. Students are encouraged to develop their natural talents in music, visual arts, communication, numeric analysis, athletics, drama and written reflection in every classroom. This multi-sensory, integrated approach to learning allows children to make their own connections, to process and remember information in a way uniquely meaningful to them and to understand concepts at their own current level. Rather than rote memorization, critical thinking skills are developed.
The middle school strives to fulfill our ideal of “Engaging Minds. Inspiring Dreams.” for every child in our program. We understand that while all middle school children share certain developmental characteristics, each child possesses distinctive talents, aspirations and challenges.
