A Tesseract education is distinguished by a focus on core subject areas - reading, writing, speaking, listening and mathematics - while enriching the curriculum throughout the Early Childhood to grade 8 educational experience with the performing and visual arts, foreign language, physical education and leadership training.
The rich and varied curriculum is integrated and thematic, making the most of the students' relationship with team teachers. Our curriculum reflects the philosophy of "multiple intelligences," affirming that children learn, communicate, and impact the world in different ways.
We value each student as an individual with unique and different talents. Tesseract has small classes with very low student-teacher ratios, which enables educators to get children excited and engaged in their own learning. Educators stimulate students to think clearly and critically, learn independently and collaboratively, and appreciate that learning is not a passive activity, but one demanding their full involvement.
As a member of NAIS, Tesseract also focuses on community values. While actively engaged in building strong academic foundations, the faculty and administration are also committed to teaching, by example, care and respect for others, individual responsibility, and open communication. We expect students to act with kindness, civility and generosity of spirit.
In our daily activities, we provide many opportunities to foster the development of our students' integrity and moral character and we also seek to expand civic consciousness. More than mere tolerance, this standard calls for students to act with compassion for others and to reach beyond the school and community, to become attuned global citizens.
